Seraphim are the resident ensemble at St Mary-at-Hill and are very much at the heart of our music ministry along with their Director and our Director of Music, Robert Mingay-Smith. They are a professional ensemble composed of six musicians with a wealth of experience from the worlds of church music, opera, and the concert hall at an international level. They are versatile and highly regarded for their expressive music-making and moving interpretations. Hilary Cronin (Soprano)
Hilary Cronin is an experienced soprano singer who has performed with choirs such as The Monteverdi Choir, toured with The Chamber Choir of London and worked with London Voices.
Rebecca Leggett (Mezzo Soprano)
The Mezzo Soprano, Rebecca Leggett is the recipient of the Coro Nuobo Young Musician of the Year 2018 and the winner of the 2020 Brooks-van der Pump Song Competition at the RCM.
Gavin Cranmer-Moralee (Bass)
Introducing the bass. Gavin Cranmer-Moralee holds a regular position as a Gentleman of Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal Choir at Hampton Court Palace, singing at regular Sunday and week-day services and performing for royal occasions.
Oscar Golden-Lee (Tenor)
After graduating in 2016, Oscar sang as a choral scholar at Wells Cathedral whilst also working as a Graduate Music Assistant and House Parent at the cathedral school. The following year, he was awarded a place on the prestigious Genesis Sixteen programme and sang with Lincoln Cathedral Choir.
He has performed with a variety of the UK’s leading ensembles, such as The Sixteen, The Gesualdo Six, The Tallis Scholars, ORA Choir, Apollo5, Voices8 and Ex Cathedra.
James Norrey (Accompanist)
James Norrey is a freelance musician in London and is in high demand as an accompanist. He has performed on BBC Songs of Praise and in concert at many of the major British cathedrals and abroad in Antwerp, Malta, Gozo and Vienna. He has also played for Her Majesty the Queen in a service of celebration for her Diamond Jubilee.
Robert Mingay-Smith (Director)
Seraphim’s Music Director Robert Mingary-Smith is an organist, singer and choral director. He began his musical career as an organist at the age of 14. During his career, Robert has held posts as Assistant Director of Music at the Old Royal Naval College Chapel, Greenwich, and St Michael’s Cornhill, London.
