Many office workers and visitors to the City of London have already discovered the peaceful space offered by the St Mary-at-Hill churchyard and take time to drink coffee and eat their lunch there.
In 2014 the churchyard was identified as a site for improvement within the Fenchurch and Monument Area Enhancement Strategy as a means of improving the quality of open spaces in the area. Since then the church and the Diocese of London have been working in partnership with the City of London Corporation to develop proposals that aim to deliver an enhanced churchyard with improved disabled access for the long-term benefit of parishioners, other users of the church and members of the public.
Regrettably, there have been delays in delivering this project, but the quiet haven of the churchyard is still available to visitors. Although there is no step-free access to the church from the churchyard, a moveable ramp is available on request to enable wheelchair entry.
