Shami Chakrabarti CBE, Former Director of Liberty, will be our special guest at our Thursday Conversation on 6th October 2016.

The Thursday Conversations are a series of monthly conversations that encourage us to engage with important issues that impact on all our lives. In an informal, relaxed atmosphere, we discuss and debate with influential figures in fields such as politics, law, social justice and human rights.

Conversations are facilitated by the Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin, Priest-in-Charge at St Mary-at-Hill Church and Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons. Our guest speaker on Thursday 6th October is Shami Chakrabarti CBE.

About Shami Chakrabarti CBE

Shami Chakrabarti CBE 2016One of the UK’s best known campaigners, Shami took Liberty from a niche body assisting those whose rights had been infringed to a respected national group with influence in government and the media. A barrister by training, Shami has led arguments on ID cards, detention without trial, surveillance and privacy. Widely praised for her work and determination, even by those who haven’t always agreed with her, that didn’t stop the Sun labelling her ‘the most dangerous woman in the country’.
